This is a fun drill to work on poaching with only three people. Two players stand at the T and volley back and forth. The third player is at the net and tries to poach every other volley of the player on the other side of the net. I find that it really gets net players into a rhythm of moving with conviction and volleying with control. Give it a try and let me know how it goes!
Are you trying to get ready for a match against a left-handed server but don't have a lefty handy?! One easy way to practice returning against a lefty is to have your partner hit this high backhand slice/ volley from the baseline. With this angle and spin you can replicate the action on a left-handed serve. Give it a try!
