I'm often asked what I think of using various tennis training devices. For me, it depends on the device and what you're trying to get out of it. If you're trying to improve your stroke technique and are willing to spend some time practicing, one of my favorite devices is Billie Jean King's Eye Coach. It is a contact trainer that helps me show players how to hit better strokes in every respect, from maintaining the right distance from the ball to contact point to follow through. Importantly, it provides the opportunity for repetition immediately after I have suggested corrections. Various benefits of the device are described on the manufacturer's website here.
My client Amy recently enjoyed using the Eye Coach on a day when the courts were too wet for a traditional, running-intensive lesson. We were able to focus on some technique corrections and practice those with focus. Check out the highlights below!
